I wrote Waves of Inspiration for a collaborative performance with chamber orchestra underStaffed and choir EnsembleNYC. During this performance, a percentage of the proceeds benefitted NYU FACES (Finding a Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures), a research initiative and resource forum for children and families who are affected by epilepsy and seizures. Each movement of my piece sets motivational passages of text from speeches, letters, poems, and quotes by prominent historical figures – namely, Theodore Roosevelt, Vincent Van Gogh, Alfred Nobel, and Prince – who were said to have experienced epilepsy during their lives. As someone who experienced epilepsy in my own childhood, I present this piece with the hope to inspire others who may be living with epilepsy and seizures to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals.​
